According to Joe Girardi, Andy Pettitte wants to rejoin the Yankees .

"I talked to him recently and he is still excited about coming back," Girardi said yesterday of Pettitte, who hasn't accepted a one-year, $10 million deal on the table from the Yankees. "They continue to talk; it takes time. He is very excited about the additions to the club and he wants to be here. I think he could help."

After introducing free-agent pitchers CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett yesterday, Hal Steinbrenner said the Yankees continue to shop.

Sabathia is leaning toward not playing in the World Baseball Classic this March, and Burnett said he won't.

When Burnett asked Carl "American Idle" Pavano about playing in New York, Burnett wasn't expecting a glowing report from his former Marlins teammate.

Sabathia has the option of leaving after three years but he said the goal is to stay for all seven seasons on his $161 million deal.
